Personal Roleplay Characters from Final FantasyXIV, as told by Rin.
❝ Life is short and the world
is at least half terrible, and for every kind
stranger, there is one who would break you,
though I keep this from my children. I am trying
to sell them the world. Any decent realtor,
walking you through a real shithole, chirps on
about good bones: This place could be beautiful,
right? You could make this place beautiful. ❞- maggie smith

STYLE
- multi-paragraphs, but happy to match my writing partner! As you can tell, I am very wordy.
- must be 21+
- interested in character development, lore, plots
- not interested in turn-based/dice-based rp but can be accommodating for heads-or-tails situations
- I'd like to see if our writing complements each other first before any permanent character-affecting lore; friends and other interactions are always welcomed!
WHERE
- comfortable with either discord or in-game (requires scheduling in advance for in-game)
AVAILABILITY
- usually 6 PM to 11 PM EST; much more flexible on discord
- I work fulltime, so would appreciate any writing partners who won't mind replies only as I become available on discord, and happy to reciprocate! My in-game time is sadly limited, but you can probably find me at venue events around Ishgard!

Currently under construction. In the meantime, some basic hooks while you wait:
Loyalist - Though he serves as part of the vanguard committee to work with the Ilsabard contingent with regard to cementing the Eorzean alliance, Tighe still privately believes that Garlemald should be restored to what it once was, and that agreeing to the demands of Eorzea will serve them well in the interim until they have attained enough authority and reserves to once more break the treaty. For the moment, he hides it well enough, though a few choice words sometimes escape him that belie his true opinion.
Enemies Hate Garleans? Good. Tighe was one of those who oversaw much of the magitek technology that had lain waste to other lands, and you have all the good reasons to despise him. He cares very little for the opinions of most savages however, and he will retaliate should you voice your dislike in more physical terms.
Disciplinarian Strict and by the book. Does not tolerate disobedicne and disloyalty. In the bedroom, he likes to take charge, but he can be moved to be gentle if required. Protective of what he considers his 'property' and can spoil the for good behavior and care.
Weaponry - Tighe served under Midas nan Garlond and other contemporaries, working to perfect the destructive magiteknology that have given the upper hand in numerous battles. He may be inclined to discuss some aspects of it with you if you prove yourself more than knowledgeable. Unlike Midas, his approach to magitek is hands-on - he has served in the battlefield and fought at the forefront.
A Hunter [RARE] - In the course of his profession, Tighe had acquired some certain... prisoners of war that he had taken under his personal care. For all his dismissiveness towards those not of pure blood, a pretty face is a pretty face, and Tighe is not above certain delightful weaknesses. Alas, his favorite escaped his custody during the war, disappearing somewhere into Eorzea. He would pay and do nearly everything to find them once more under his ... patronage. (A bit picky for this one. I would like to see if our writing styles complement each other and our character outlooks align before going ahead with this one, but always feel free to offer your own suggestions! Can be left as a love-hate scenario, but can move toward more romantic inclinations should the blorbos have great chemistry. I would very much like to have Tighe eat humble pie in the course of this relationship should it go down the latter route - arrogant man needs to be taken down a peg or two.)

ABILITIES
SCHOLAR [KNOWN]
Is considered one of the best in aetherneurology and in revolutionary wellness treatments; vast experience as a war medic.
SUMMONER [KNOWN]
Wields some control over a certain set and subset of beasts in Eorzea in due part to the beast aether he had consumed and can manipulate over the course of his research.
THE HYDE GENE [SECRET]
The numerous and constant experimentations Astre had done to his own body has finally taken their toll. The strength and speed that Astre possesses gives him an unnatural tendency to morph into a strange monstrous version of himself at certain times of the year. While he has since created antidotes to prevent the transformation, stifling the process causes him a certain amount of pain - enough that on some nights he forgoes the medication completely to travel to barren wastelands and set himself loose until it has run its course.
Send me a message if you have other suggestions! Always happy to find something to bounce off of!
Aetherology - is an important part of his life. His reputation, business and expertise revolves around it, and he is considered one of the foremost experts of his time. Medical conditions and mysteries are like candy treats for him. Give him as much as you like.
Social - Astre is confident and knowledgeable about his fields of study. Outside of it, he is like a fish out of water. He will take you literally no matter how obviously metaphorical you can get, and your words at face value. He can occasionally make a joke himself, but because he is so serious and deadpan about almost everything most do not realize the jest until well after. Has some earmarks of beingautistic, albeit high-functioning.
Astre is also an instructor. Students and professors may know of him (his strict adherence to the rules and no-nonsense grading system is infamous). If your expertise also lies within the realms of aetherology he will be happy to talk to you at some length about it, even help you with your thesis if you seek assistance.
Monstrous - There are repercussions that comes with experimenting with one's body far too often than one should. Astre's body is riddled with scars both large and small; and being unable to heal them completely indicates how deep and terrible the wounds had been. Some injuries are from creature attacks, others carved by his own hand, often in emergencies where his life hung in the balance if he did not turn the knife on his own flesh.
On certain nights, he is driven to the wilderness where he can transform and bring out his inner beast, hunting other creatures until his hunger is quelled, sated until the next moonless hours. You may catch a glimpse of him during these nights; some witness accounts having been turned into superstition and urban lore.
Astre is a fan of the arts. While he enjoys the theater and opera, he has since forayed into more unusual forms of entertainment, including rock shows and drag queen contests at other people's encouragement, in a bid to understand other varied lifestyles. Invite him to one, and he would most likely accept barring schedule limitations.
Schrodinger's doctor - There is a lot here that is not stated explicitly about Astre, and it is because he has a carefully curated reputation that he wants to show other people. Which means there is a lot of secrecy surrounding him, and he can be either an ally or a villain for your own character lore.If he is capable and willing to break Ishgardian law to experiment on himself, then would he go so far as to experiment on others? Does he go out of the way to seek unoccupied territory when in his monstrous form, or does he not care if he attacks travelers? How ethical has his research been? Does he care about people, or is it all an act? And what of the strange deaths surrounding his family?Astre can either be a perfectly fine and upstanding citizen trying to change the world for the better, or a mad doctor obsessed with pursuing immortality for himself. And the right answer depends on how your character would like to interact with him. I am perfectly happy rping Astre as either a friend or antagonist!
Astre was born to a minor noble house in Ishgard to Count and Lady Onirique. As a child, Astre was sickly but constantly pushed to outperform his fellow peers despite his illness, his father hiring instructors for him since the age of three in the belief that he would be an extraordinary man who would help change Ishgard for the better. The Count, however, was also a cruel man and was not above punishing Astre disproportionately, sometimes locking him in his room with little to eat or keeping his room cold.A poor student at first due to his sicknesses, Astre nearly succumbed during his fifth summer, and was treated by an exceptional chirurgeon. Astonished at the remarkable improvement to his health, Astre decided that he too would become a medical practitioner.Astre began to study more seriously and began to flourish as a student, though his father continued to punish him despite his newfound achievements, never satisfied with his successes. In a bid to win his father's admiration, Astre married a young woman from a prestigious noble house, though they were not very compatible; Cezina liked fineries and balls while he preferred research and study, and attempts to produce a heir were unsuccessful.Astre graduated slightly ahead of his peers and was sent as a war medic in forays into both Garlemald territories and against Dravanian battles, all against his father's wishes. During this time, his family manor was burnt down while he was away, the Count and his wife losing their lives in the process.
Astre proved to be a formidable surgeon on the battlefield as well as a competent soldier himself. He was briefly captured by Garlemald forces and, upon realizing his skill in medicine and biochemistry, was made to work on the Black Rose project, though Astre took the time to also learn about the experiments their scientists conducted on conscripts and beasts alike. He was a favorite prisoner of Nael van Darnus, who used his scientific abilities for their research but also kept him as his 'pet'. Astre's distaste for submitting to anyone stemmed from his time with the White Raven.Managing to formulate his own concoction that provided him with inhuman strength and speed (and temporarily with a monstrous form), he escaped at great cost to the Garlemalds, killing many on his way out. At the brink of death, he subsisted on behemoths and other powerful creatures, using their blood and aether to keep himself alive, including performing surgery on himself at one point with blood transfusions from some of these beasts. Against all odds, he collapsed near the Gates of Judgment, and was found just in time.Realizing the wealth of knowledge he had brought back, Ishgard put Astre in charge of their own experimentations, mainly with dissecting and testing Dravanian blood and aether. Astre began to experiment on himself during this time, using his experiences in Garlemald to create potions that greatly improve his health, and imbue him with more permanent strength and speed, though this gives him a preternatural transformation that he hides from everyone.

Over the years, after the tests ended and he was returned to civilian life, he continued to experiment on himself so he can better control his beast side. He realized that the easiest way to secure funding for his research was to pivot toward wellness and natural cosmetics, knowing that Ishgardians were vain and were constantly looking for ways to maintain their physical beauty. When he began to look younger himself, with the physical body of one decades younger, he was arrested on witchcraft charges, a trial by combat saving his life and proving the charges false. A great demand for his research and products began shortly after. Now well into his seventh decade with a pretty Vieran wife, Astre divides his time between special guest lectures in Sharlayan and Ishgard, serving as a doctor on the airship, Corsair (a change of pace from his work drudgery, he says), - with her, all while continuing to perfect both his longevity products.

Ruu Kisneengaged/wife
Their chemistry was immediate upon meeting at the Gilded Asp one day; she gave him her number and invited him to her place, and he accepted naively, assuming it was for a house call - until she made her attraction clear.Despite her cheerful, gentle extrovertedness and his more introspective personality, both fell hard for each other, soon establishing an intimate dom/sub relationship that went beyond more than just affection, with Ruu able to find the chinks in the taciturn doctor's armor.

cezina onirique
NPC. An arranged marriage his father ordered before Astre was recruited into the army. While Astre resented his father's meddling and had no particular love for Cezina he treated her well, knowing that she was but another tool that the Count wielded.Cezina was more attached to Astre than he was to her, and resented it when Astre brought back a prisoner from Garlemald to recuperate under their roof. She left shortly after to visit her parents and passed away unexpectedly while there.

Currently, Astre is not interested in any sexual activities with another partner that is not his wife, unless she is involved or consents. As a result of his previous experimentations on himself, Astre also possesses both barbed and knotted physiology.
